Excel 2013 & 2016: Formatting: The Number Group

Note: Before doing any formatting commands, the cells must be selected (highlighted) first. Use the fat white plus sign to select cells.

Number Formatting

To make numbers look like this:

Do this


$12.34 (currency)

·       Click on the Home tab.

·       Click on the accounting number format button: https://p3plcpnl0895.prod.phx3.secureserver.net:2078/public_html/Excel/2013/003-Formatting_files/image003.jpg (gives 2 decimal places by default)

50% (percent)

·       Click on the Home tab.

12,345.67 (comma)

·       Click on the Home tab.

Anything else

Right-click on the cell(s), and choose Format Cells from the popup menu
