A table of contents is probably something that you would only put in a large document like a book or a dissertation. To insert a table of contents:
· Click on the References tab.
· Then in the Table of contents group (on the left), click on the down-arrow on the Table of Contents button.
· Select a style from the list. Word will build a table of contents for you based on the Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, etc. styles. This means that you must use the Heading styles when creating your document in the first place.
